Description

This revised Passage Planning Guide for the Malacca and Singapore Straits follows extensive distribution of the original publication dated 1998. Since that time fundamental changes apply to the area.

This new Guide encapsulates these changes and allows for future onboard electronic revision as changes occur. This is an extremely valuable enhancement over the earlier document, which remained fixed in time and space. Publication of this new Guide will comprise of a book and accompanying passage planning CDROM

Overview

The basic principle of the Guide is to con a ship through the straits, either eastbound or westbound, giving salient information for the each leg of the voyage.

The advantage of the new electronic version lies in its functionality allowing for update for company-specific, ship-specific or time-specific differences thus tailoring the hardcopy Passage Plan to a unique document suited to the individual ship for the date and time of transit.

The Guide is informed by marine experience form many shipmasters transiting the straits.
